James
Slater
The dynamic JAMES SLATER singer-songwriter-pianoman extraordinaire weaves tales
of love won and lost with powerful pop songs, strong ballads and emotive piano
playing. An exotic mix of British-Bolivian and American blood, gives James
a huge range of musical diversity from which to draw. With his songs he spreads
passion as powerful as any tropical hurricane, and his music is as exciting
as the wild nature which he grew up around.
James Slater is known for his energetic and soul driven live performances.
The song Poco A Poco whirls up the subject of a man who missed the
chance to marry the woman of his dreams, a tragically beautiful number
rendered with Latin charisma. His performances prove that there are
still artists out there who can totally enjoy themselves in concert
without calculating their every move.
The young man who met Dani Klein of Vaya Con Dios while he was performing
at the Mascotte in Zurich a few years ago co-wrote Don't Break My
Heart and other Vaya Con Dios songs on the last album. James Slater
was also the opening act for Chris de Burgh at Art On Ice 1999. In
January 2001 he will perform Poco A Poco in the four day sell out "Art
On Ice" in Zurich, Switzerland. Josef Sabovik former Olympic
Bronze Medallist will skate to the love ballad. James will also be
joining The Scorpions for a few songs each night. James’s next
big concert will be a music festival in Cuba with European & Cuban
artists in the Caliente Fest in Havana Cuba, 7-11 March.
Last year James took part in the historic Bridges Over Troubled
Waters songwriting competion in Havana, Cuba with a select group
of famous artists and songwriters. James had six songs chosen for
the finale concert and performed three of these. His next album -
soon to be released - includes My Old Havana and Walking On Sunshine
a song he wrote with Stewart Copeland of The Police..... “a
dream come true” for James. NBC television will be filming
the recording.
James’s goal is: "With each song I hope to have a three-and-a-half
minute emotional impact on people. Move them... make them connect,
feel something - move them, and that moves me.”
